With DSSI support you would be able to use external synths, but there are
some (very basic) built-in synths in Liquidsoap that don't require DSSI
(for instance synth.all.saw or synth.all.sine).

The problem is not with ladspa but with *ocaml*-ladspa. You should first
build and install ocaml-ladspa before building ocaml-dssi (or you could use
the general configure in the mercurial repository).
