iTunes isn't the best program for manipulating files. Try ffmpeg
(http://ffmpeg.org/download.html). There are other tools, but I wouldn't
use iTunes for anything other than personal use. Definitely not for
encoding files for a radio station, where reliability and quality make
or break your stream.
