I've been using Liquidsoap 1.0.0-beta2.1 for some time. Here is a problem
I've noticed, maybe upgrading resolves it? I know there has been way more
work since then.
The script plays out local content, and falls back to an Icecast stream
when it's available. It polls the external stream every 5 seconds.
Liquidsoap won't handle the stream if it's in mono in any format. It will
see it's online, fallback to it, then switch back to the original source.
If the stream is ogg and stereo, it will fall back to it one time an play
it out. After the stream goes offline, Liquidsoap resumes the fallback
playlist as expected but it's CPU usage spikes and hovers at 80% - 100% and
the http polling mechanism stops, at least according to the log entries it
makes when checking for http input. Liquidsoap won't catch the stream when
it comes back online. There is information in the log about this and the
log level is 4.
There appear to be no issues when the external stream is always stereo and
mp3.

also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service.
