I'm not really sure what you mean by going backwards and skipping the previous element (if it's been played already, what is there to skip?) but concerning the removal and re-queuing of all items, there should be a better way, using the "insert", "move" and "remove" commands that equeue offers (and which are used in liGuidsoap if you need example code).
