This won't change anything: queue management is not dependent on
whether the source is "wanted", instead the source always tries to
have "enough" stuff ready in case somebody suddenly needs it.

PS for devs: What you describe would only be possible with a crazy
kind of switch operator that would de-activate its sources while they
are not needed. But that would be quite complex (one would need to
plan in advance, know about the time intervals used in predicates, and
it would be tricky to cope with lags due to source preparation, etc.)
