Damien, Precise 12.04 is relatively new and has only been out since the end of April, that said I am really new to Liquidsoap and have only very recently come to use it in the last couple of weeks and for a performance only a few days ago. So in answer to your question I have tried it I never said I did.
QJackctrl and Patchage is something I have toyed with on earlier versions of Ubuntu and only 64bit versions. I have tried many Linux Versions of Ubuntu and of it's sister distro Studio I had installed the realtime kernels when necessary Studio comes with realtime pre-installed. On the older versions the problems would manifest themselves by way of a systems crash or lock up of the desktop and only when Qjackctrl was in use. I have never tried liquidsoap with jack yet and don't yet know if it crashes now I only suggested jack as an alternative to monitor the levels. However as far a system resources go I would expect these to increase the overall system load and processing. I will modify my script for jack, once I have worked out how, and install Patchage as an additional package I will let you know if is stable or not.
