I see the new min requirement of taglib 1.7.0 is higher than the version
provided by Ubuntu Lucid (released in 2010, but supported until 2015) and
Debian Squeeze. We'd still like to support these versions for Airtime
because a huge portion of our userbase is still on these versions.

I see 3 options

1) Stop supporting these distributions when we adopt Liquidsoap 1.1
2) Backport taglib to these OS versions when compiling Liquidsoap
3) Allow Liquidsoap to compile using an older version of taglib, but unlock
the new advanced taglib features if a version >= 1.7.0 is detected.


We would probably go for route #2, but I'm curious if #3 is simply a matter
of changing the configure script's min version.
