Hi,

merge_tracks is applied when the source is played, not at creation. So,

merge_tracks(playlist.once(reload_mode="watch", "playlist"))

should be what you need! The watch reload_mode will moreover reload
the contents of the playlist when it is changed (so, no need to
overwrite the files).
