What Telnet client client are you using,.
It sort of sounds like Liquidsoap isn't seeing the end of line. I had some
problems with one version of a nodejs telnet client. I don't remember all
the details, but I think the client was actually swallowing all the stuff
LS was sending.
you might try putting in some console statements in Liquidsoap to see if
the problem is with Liquidsoap not receiving, or the client not receiving.
