I am going to preface that I just purchased both new books edited by Sir
Terence Clark (a mundane-world Sir) and have Madra to thank for pointing out
sources that have been right under my nose! The SPDBS has a great list of some
other books some of you may find helpful in your quests for sighthound lore as
well -- ohoo was I feeling blond when I realized they had suggested these books
months ago. Their library website can be found at www.desertbred.org. Click
on "Enter" and it will take you to the links.

For those interested in the books by Sir Terence, the seller is Aris and
Phillips, with the following site containing info on both Al Masur's On Hunting
and Dogs in Antiquity: Anubis to Cerebus, the Origins of the Domestic Dog. You
can buy them online through David Brown Book Company,
http://www.oxbowbooks.com/bookinfo.cfm/ID/31823//Location/DBBC.

I also purchased 3 coursing books through Amazon, which promise to have more
info on historical coursing, hunts with horse, and even info on falconry which
I am dying to partake in! We have a cockatoo I am *sure* will love us for
getting her a falcon for a playmate (... I am joking for those who are about to
call animal control ...) Those books are: Sighthounds Afield: The Complete
Guide to Sighthound Breeds & Amateur Performance Events (with a Comprehensive
Chapter on Adopted Ex-Racing Dog By: Denise Como, Lure Coursing: Field Trialing
for Sighthounds and How to Take Part by Beaman By: Arthur S. Beaman, and
Gazehounds & Coursing - The History, Art and Sport of Hunting With Sighthounds
- M.
H. Dutch Salmon.

I'll be happy to tell anyone more about them when I have received and read
them -- though I have written more the past few days on this list than I think
I
have written total email in a long while.

Jonneth
