This is a copy of an article about a modern Western explorer of the Middle
East, and his relationship with 'Abd al-'Aziz Al Sa'ud. Though not of
medieval historical note, the ME has not changed in many ways since the middle
ages,
and so some of this article has the "feel" of documents which were written
by Westerners in the ME in the middle ages. The most telling part about this
article is in fact the name of the Captain. As with many other
mistranslations, some have mis-heard Captain Shakespear's name to be "Shaikh
Zubayr", and
mistook him for an Arab. How often has that happened in history!

A side note -- anyone interested in Saudi Aramco World as a middle eastern
resource may order a free subscription to their magazine through their
website. I know it's not medieval, again, but so much of our modern world
(especially in the ME) reflects the past that it's not a bad resource at all,
IMO.
