Jami'a,
Did you meet Fionnghuala the Fewterer at Estrella while we were coursing?
She is here on this list, a wonderful lady very interested in coursing and she
is
in Atenveldt! You two should talk -- she spent a lot of time working with us to
learn how to set up and operate stuff.

I'm sure you'll get lot's of very good advice from this list -- many hound and
coursing people with tons of experience creating groups in various kingdoms.
As you know, our group is still quite young, but when we first started I found
reading the other kingdom's Hound guild and Hound college documents to be
very helpful. I think a lot are included on the various kingdom coursing sites
--
or maybe people here could share with you.

Because you're just starting out you will have the opportunity to create the
group however you like. If you work with the other hound enthusiasts in your
kingdom and your Monarchs, you'll be able to put together a group that
everyone is happy with.

As far as equipment goes, we simply held a fund raiser in Caid (did a used
garb and SCA stuff yard sale at a Crown Tournament) and were able to raise
all the money we needed in a single day. So don't under-estimate your
kingdom and their willingness to get behind a group that is just starting out.
Talk to lots of people and get them involved!!

Would we be a House? Or something else? I can't remember if I asked this
specific question in the right way -- I am still new to the hierarchy and don't
even know what we'd fall under. My husband and I are in the process of
building a coursing machine, and don't know what else doggie groups do
aside from providing support and hosting events. I haven't had anyone else
in the area contact me yet either, so I am going to go do some active
recruiting
at events, but need to know what the group should incorporate/provide/do --
there's so many options! Does that make sense? ;>
