Lady Marietta will pick up my treadle sewing machine on Wednesday.
She emailed me within minutes of my posting its availability.

If anyone is interested in seeing the Greyhound logo for the New Home
sewing machine, you can look at the International Sewing Machine
Collector's Society website <http://www.ismacs.net/> at the following
address.

Just some information for those who want a people powered sewing
machine. Old electric Singer sewing machines can be easily converted
into a treadle sewing machine or a hand crank sewing machine. These
are the "black" Singer sewing machines, class/models 66, 15, 115,
99. The bobbins and needles for these old black Singer sewing
machines are still the standard for modern sewing machines. The
black Singer sewing machines were made with all metal parts. When
converted to hand crank or treadle, they can sew through light
leather and tent canvas.

The black electric Singers in working condition, can be bought at
flea markets and yard sales from $10 to $50. A reproduction hand
crank conversion kit costs about $25. If you can find just the metal
base of a treadle sewing machine, you can create a treadle sewing
machine out of the electric Singer. Directions are on this website.

I buy hand crank conversion kits from this website.

I am a big fan of hand crank sewing machines because they are easy to
transport to events, like Pennsic. For the past few years, I have
taken a converted hand crank sewing machine to Pennsic War. One
year, a friend barrowed it the first week of Pennsic and sewed a new
canvas panel for her Viking tent. Every year at Pennsic, I end up
trading it for something....
