OR maybe she is an not responsible person who is breeding for profit and NOT the love of a breed. I am NOT against breeding (a well planned breeding with home already lined up) but she had to know that the dog was preggers before now. I am not saying pups don't need good homes, 'cause they do. Just that people need to be responsable for their actions...You'd better believe that if I ever breed a litter, I would be doing background checks on ANYONE interested in one of my pups and making them sign a contract that the dogs come BACK to me if they EVER don't want them/can't care for them. And I'd make sure I have at least 4 owners lined up before I bred the bitch.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Mark, Well said, personally, I respect the breeder/owner that tries to find homes for their unwanted or accidental breedings rather than destroy them out of hand. This, at least in my book, is a good thing. I've just lost my Ambush, I've also dealt with one of these 40 mph termites before. They are wonderous, glorious things to see, just pray you don't have much woodwork, (chairs, etc.) in your home for them to get their little razor sharp teeth on....LOL... I'm thinking about this. I know Whitney would love to have a real greyhound pupper of her own to baby instead of the IG's, but......I'm not sure I'm ready to do this... I think we should try to help this lady out and find homes for these little ones, and pray heavily for those who recieve them...<EG>.. Leap not to conclusions prior to knowing circumstances. You may be correct in your surmissions, but there is no reason to act peevish. This person is at least trying to line up homes for the pups rather than destroying them out of hand, sending them to a kill shelter, or dumping them by the side of the road. Lady Aria, that the queen mother would part with her grandpups earlier than you deem responsible is immaterial to the current issue of finding them a home. A less than properly socialized grey pup (based on your standards) is better than one which gets sent to an animal research lab, regardless of circumstance. The notice hit both this list and the other coursing list. Given the e-mail addy, they hit the yahoogroups first or joined in order to get the word out. Yes there are irresponsible breeders out there. But let us deal with fact rather than supposition. If these pups go to list members, it is likely a good happenstance. There are those who have just lost hounds who might see this as providence, or serendipity. Yes, greyhound puppies are as crazy as weimeraner (sic) pups, but I loved mine all the same even when he learned to open gates, ate concrete and nested in the couch.
