Hi, Alex. I tried this just now:
1. Recreated the symlink from /var/lib/mysql --> /mnt/mysql (NOTE:
the first time I did this I mv'd /var/lib/mysql to /var/lib/oldmysql
prior to creating the symlink. I then synchronized to all. Upon
reboot, that change was lost.)
2. Created a database called 'testdatabase'. It appeared in /mnt/
mysql as expected.
3. Terminated the instance.
The instance terminated and restarted, as expected. However, it
deleted the EBS volume entirely this time and did not create or mount
another. I rechecked the settings for the mysql role (called "attassa-
mysql") and they are set to attach or create an EBS volume on startup
and mount to /mnt/mysql.
