I'm trying to look into the option of running the app server on the large instance type but not sure how I could easily going about testing the configuration. Ideally I'd like to create an app64 instance as part of my farm so my current scripts that depend on finding other roles and ip's inside the farm would work. Is there any way to do this? I can't just put the app64 as part of my farm by selecting it in the farm edit because I assume the load balancing server would try to send traffic to it.
