Hi Dominic,

I need to understand how did you configure your mysql role. Seems to me you
created some kind of mix of mysql and EBS not exactly the way it should be.

Edit the farm that contains the mysql role, select the mysql role.
On the Mysql Settings tab - which storage engine is selected? EBS?
On the EBS tab, do you have "Do not use EBS" selected.

If this is so. You are ok. Mysql data is indeed stored where you specified
and all is actually handled for you. This means that the Mysql is running on
the EBS mounted to your instance. You actually do not have to do anything
special to make it happen.

Also...the way the slaves are configured they are not using the EBS of the
master directly but rather replicate using the Mysql mechanism for master
and slaves. Again...this is totally automatic....all configuration is
performed by scalr.
