Kenneth, Both 'backup' and 'bundle' are the complete MySQL data backups. The difference is 'backup' is an SQL mysqldump file, and 'bundle' is the MySQL datadir snapshot.
Backup locks database for longer time than bundle. Database lock for LVM and EBS storage engines takes a few seconds. Role name includes "LVM" suffix for historical reasons. You are free to use whatever storage engine you wish with this role. To restore SQL backup, you will need to import SQL file to the MySQL server. Bundle should be extracted as MySQL datadir.
