I'm using the latest, 5.10.  And that was so incredibly easy I actually
thought I missed something.  Good job everyone.  And Thank you.

You can also use Synaptic, i.e. the package manager. That is the
graphical version of apt-get and installed on Ununtu by default.

Which ubuntu version are you using?

If it is the latest(Breezy, 5.10) then it is a simple matter of
selecting schooltool and installing it.

If you are using Hoary, then you will have to add the universe
repository to your repository list.
