Fine :) Still I share the thought in this thread that it

Well, this is an understandable thing. If you don't use the
book the engine will not use a book. Therefore it will (have
to) calculate the first move, and this takes quite some
time, plus the engine has some internal time management that
allows it to take a certain amount here. That is, you can
not expect the engine to move immediately if you don't allow
here to use a book.

This is in fact pretty likely, as eg. Shredder gives the
first move quite a thought, if I don't allow him to use a
book. (Note that Scid does not allow the engine to use some
internal book, but tells the engine that Scid provides book
moves if applicable.)
