Is the ScidBase project dead? I assume so, given the links, but maybe not?

If so, are there any other initiatives around to create a
*high-quality* (meaning no duplicates, all games verified, all
tournaments complete, etc) database? A few years back I signed up to
be a volunteer for one such project, but nothing came of it. The big
databases being sold by Chess Assistant and Chessbase are littered
with errors and impossibilities, and it seems like many of the sites
boasting huge databases have followed in that error-ridden
tradition...
