What would your native language be? Please note also that the translation file has to be maintained and updated from time to time. Currently, Scid is available in 15 languages, but we have quite some missing translation activity as you can see from the following list (the numbers denote missing tags): czech 29 francais 14 hungary 73 italian 205 nederland 13 norsk 522 polish 522 portbr 69 russian 561 serbian 522 spanish 9 suomi 8 swedish 520 All in all, without help contents, each language requires 1378 tags (menu entries, dialogue texts and so on) to be translated, so it's a bit of work. I'd of course not hinder anyone who wants to take up that challenge, but I admit that IMHO all those translations should be kept alive as well, so adding a new language requires some longer term commitment from the translator. I don't want to blame anyone here who had to stop working on it, I know destructive interference with real life all too well. I just wanted to mention that point. And if we have some reading members of the list, native speakers of one of the above languages, I could give instructions what has to be done. And while I'm at it: It would be _REALLY GREAT_ and IMHO we'd gain the largest profit for the entire users community if someone could start reworking Scids english online documentation. Not starting it from scratch, but just chapter by chapter go over the current text adjust what is outdated, add what is missing, make clear what is only clear to a programmer and so on. Most likely the gain here would be much larger than adding other languages, IMHO(!!!) <advertisement> You'd surely profit yourself as you'll know more of Scids that you'd ever dared to ask if you're done and you'd wonder what Scid could actually do for you today. </advertisement> The docs really need quite some work. I may also add that it is nearly impossible for a programmer to write a users manual, especially if you want the user to understand it. So if anybody has free capacities here, who wants to contribute to the project, and be it only for parts of the manual please contact me. You only need minimal technical knowledge for that. But it would be great if people could document those functions they use heavily and know inside out FROM A USERS PERSPECTIVE. cu Alexander ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Protect Your Site and Customers from Malware Attacks Learn about various malware tactics and how to avoid them.
