First of all, sorry if this is off-topic; I know Scid is mainly a
database application and the ability to play games against others (e.g.
via FICS and correspondence) is a relatively recent addition.  That
said...

  Is it possible to play a game between two copies of Scid connecting
directly to each other?  Something like what you can do with XBoard, for
example.  I searched for "lan", "local", "direct connect", and "direct"
in the list archives but couldn't find anything that looked promising.

  Also, is there a tutorial anywhere for setting up the correspondence
feature?  I've looked at the dialog a couple of times, and I couldn't
quite figure out how to "make it go".  :)
