It depends on system configuration (whether given Linux runs .exe's via
wine by default, ol not).
Safe solution I use is to create short bash script to spawn the
appropriate engine. For example here is my houdini.sh:
exec wine /home/marcin/ChessEngines/Houdini/Houdini_15a_w32.exe
Then
chmod a+x houdini.sh
and set houdini.sh as engine in scid config.
