I think its done as I do it in CC. Go to the end of the
game, ctrl-a redo the last half move and just add the
variation there. The only nasty thing is that one has to
redo the last half move, but well.

Yes exactly, but I've modified the code so that it is done automatically at all, you don't have anymore to do the move and go back.
I had added the variation as the main line in my first version, but I didn't like it and it didn't work with multi-variations, so.......

    - UCI options window more large

Could that window size actually be calculated on the fly? Ie
that all options fit into the window without scrollbars?

I thought about that, but I've not found a simple way so far.
