I do not have the skills to trouble-shoot the error messages you received.
However, I did notice that your screen dump appears to be missing one of the
commands in Garth's procedure:
{snip}
> Macintosh:~ ben$ bzip2 -d scid-3.6.25.tar.bz2
> Macintosh:~ ben$ cd scid/
{insert}
cp Makefile.conf.darwin Makefile.conf
{/insert}
> Macintosh:scid ben$ ./configure
{snip}
Please confirm that you did change the Makefile.conf file before configuring.
