Alexander, thanks for your response. I've pursued further, and the
string that Scid generates appears to contain
"attachment='file://C:/Program Files/...'" -- that is, two slashes after
the "file:", not three. That string doesn't work when I try to run it
manually, whereas the "file:///..." definitely does.
