I haven't a clue how to do this and I'm no programmer, so, when do you
think there is an update with this feature? I have scid on my mac.

To use CVS you have to be willing to compile the code for yourself.
It's easiest to do if you're using Linux. The features *is*
available in CVS.
In my opinion, a thin red line around the two squares (to indicate
last move, where the piece has moved from and to) is good, because
I would use this feature to make an instructional video of a game.
Someone viewing the video would see the last move of each side very
clearly when a game is complicated with lots of pieces on the board.
It currently takes the form of an approximately 2-pixel thick dashed
light gray line.
