I can't reproduce it. I suppose between steps 1 and 2, you opened an engine
and the window you refer to is the engine's one ?

My idea is that your configuration (screen size + windows' sizes) makes scid
recalculate indefinitely the layout because it is always at the limit
between two piece sizes. Do you get the same behavior with autoresize = off
? The same behavior with current CVS ?
