You can't just change the name of the scidvspc project to scid and think
that it's OK. They are two separate projects. It's fine to merge any
changes in the scidvspc project into the scid project and then carry on
development within the scid project umbrella, providing the scid project
is happy with the patches, of course!

So if *ALL* the original authors of the scid project are consulted and
you have their permission to drop their code in favour of the code in
the forked project, then It may be allowable, but in my humble opinion
that may be more trouble than it's worth, hence it is easier to fork the
project.
