Hi,
1) the sound issue is a little bit complicated.I presume that if you open
Scid->Options->Sounds at the bottom of the window there is a message:"Scid
could not find the Snack audio package at startup: Sound is disabled"
If you are using linux maybe you can solve simply installing the snack package,
for example for debian:http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/libsnack2The problem
is that the snack extensions as not been developed since
2005:http://www.speech.kth.se/snack/download.html#tcl-tkand honestly i do not
know if it actually works for macs or windows now.
2) Mike Curtis posted some extra pieces some times
ago:http://sourceforge.net/p/scid/mailman/message/30827809/If
you download the "pieces.tgz" and "more_pieces.tgz" files and extract
them into the "img" directory where is the scid executable they will be
available the next time scid starts.Also Alexander Klimov posted a cool
script:http://sourceforge.net/p/scid/mailman/message/31630178/that can create
new piece sets using chess fonts:http://www.enpassant.dk/chess/fonteng.htm
If someone would like to pack a nice collection of extra pieces i think it will
be cool to provide them as a bonus download.At
the moment the piece sizes are predefined (from 25 to 80 pixel), but i
intend to write some code that will make possible and easy to use custom
sizes.

Thank you for scid 4.5.2.I am loving it, but I am having few issues with
