After you explained that books.bin is for UCI use, I scanned SCID's .\bin\books
folder and saw 4 *.bin files plus a readme.txt.

contents of readme.txt:

performance and varied books are fromhttp://chessbazaar.mylivepage.com
Thanks to Marc Lacrosse who gave the pointer. Those books were at first designed
for the Fruit engines.

It implies that these were adapted to SCID, which begs the question, are there
specific parameters/settings needed to create one's own books.bin? Are there
different formats/optimizations to the .bin file?

I'm attempting to create a book.bin using polyglot-14 and I'm wondering if I
should use any specific parameters to optimize it for SCID? Is there a
preferred method of creating a book.bin for SCID?
