1. FYI, when I installed scid-4.5.2-win64.exe, polyglot did not appear anywhere
in the /scid-4.5.2 subfolder tree.

2. The documentation indicates that through the use of book tuning I can modify
the percentages that SCID will use these moves. So I use the Menu Tools|Book
Tuning. I select a book from the dropdown. And I select the third most frequent
move and increase the percentage from 7 to 25%. Click save. First, nothing
changes. So I close the window and reopen the book tuning window and now the
percentages are different. The third move is not 25% but 21%, why didn't it use
my value?

Continuing on. So if I play black, am I to assume that SCID will now be playing
white; starting randomly using the most prevalent moves from the chosen book?
But what about the UCI configuration parameter which has "book.bin" selected?
Which takes precedence?

3. I created a book and copied it into scid's ./bin/books folder and I opened a
Book Window. It successfully appears in the dropdown box with the other books.
So I selected it and then clicked on Opponent's Book. I see various positions
and I started to play with this feature by starting a new game and just started
clicking on the most prevalent moves for White and Black (I randomly clicked
from the list). I see the game

Is there another use for the book?

Since I have 5 books (4 from scid), how does the UCI engine (ex: Eng #1 for me
is stockfish 5 64) use them?

I see that in the Menu Tools|Analysis Engine|edit|Configure UCI Engine there is
an entry for "Book File (book.bin)". And the default is book.bin, but there is
no book.bin.

Do I need a valid book file? Does it require a full pathname or just a filename
and assumes that it is in the Book Directory? If the book file is invalid (like
it is by default), what happens? Does the engine run without the aid of a book?

Is there a tutorial for this subject of books? Creating, Selecting/Optimizing,
Using them?
