Thanks - I see the show/hide coordinates now. The "trial mode" (old icon had a question mark beside a gavel) allows variations to be "tried" without being entered into the pgn. The former versions of scid had this in the main toolbar along with flip board, and autoplay, add variation... In version 4.5 for instance, the main toolbar rested and was centerd on the gameboard. A second toolbar could be added on top of that via option>toolbar, which is the only toolbar in 4.6. I am looking for the functions (particularly the trial mode) that were in the main toolbar in 4.5.
