It's a fresh installation, not an upgrade, on a Fedora 23 laptop. I downloaded
the rpm from
http://katrine.lpi.ru/kalenkov/
Deleting the .scid file and restarting Scid has no effect. I still get the
double moves every time.
2 questions:
1. Is it better to compile the code from scratch? I'm willing to do that but
would highly prefer an already built rpm.
2. Was that the best place to get the official Linux version?

What Linux distribution are you running?
Is this an upgrade from a previous version?
Have you tried moving the .scid directory in your home directory out of
the way?
I'm running version 4.6.2 which I compiled myself, and it doesn't
happen to me.
