Is that a good idea? Does dpkg care about /usr/local? Does a "dpkg --purge scidb-beta" cleanly remove the package? I'm running Debian Jessie (testing) and would be interested in trying out scidb, but it seems to not conform to the packaging guidelines and I don't want to jump through hoops cleaning up any mess it makes. Can anyone vouch that "dpkg --purge scidb-beta" purges the package and doesn't mess with anything else? Or is this part of what you want us to test? It's 56M in size! Does it not use shared libraries? -- "If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." --- Malcolm X
