> Honestly, I was under the impression that the project was dead...

Software development needs time, have a look on Open HUB
(https://www.openhub.net/p/scidb/estimated_cost), the development time is
estimated to about 200 person-years, but in fact I've started eight years ago.
It requires patience to develop an application like Scidb, and it requires
patience to wait for the next release. Scidb is far beyond to be dead.

> I could do some testing

Later, when the new version will be released. Unluckily my current development
branch does not yet provide a running application. The requirement for a
running application is a pre-tested version of the new database version, but
implementation and testing is not yet finished.

Please do it, not only my English knowledge has to be proofed, it's also an
important test whether the documents are clear and helpful.. It is very useful
if you post which documents are you proof-reading, so another tester may
choose other documents for proof-reading.

> ...and could actually translate to Dutch if necessary...

The support of Dutch would be fine, please read the file "tcl/lang/README" for
a
first introduction how to build a translation file. You have to install the
repository version:

   sudo apt-get svn
   svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/scidb/code/trunk scidb-code

'scidb-code' is the target directory for the sources. If you have any
question, don't hesitate to ask. Don't be scared about the number of strings
in the translation file, and about the number of help pages, urgency is not the
case.

Cheers,
Gregor
