Hi,

some hints, which may help.

There are some commands, all starting with pm- (pm=PowerManagment):
pm-hibernate pm-powersave pm-restart pm-shutdown pm-suspend

They can be executed from a shell or you can create any icon on your desktop or use kde menu editor to add an icon to your KDE menu.

Further, in the KDE Panel you should see the Klaptop icon (near lower right corner of the taskbar. It is either a battery, if you are on battery, or a plug). Right click on this icon and you get a menu with "Lock & Suspend" "Suspend" "Lock & Hibernate" and "Hibernate".

In the KDE Control Center: KDE -> Control Center -> Power Control -> Laptop Battery. You can configure Klaptop. For example, define what should happen, if you close the lid of your laptop (see Button Actions).

I installed it from the SL5 LiveCD (2007-05-18, not the final one), and i
t
works great since then.

Good to know.

Cheers,

   Urs
