I ll go for ndiswrapper because it is already installed on livecd right?
i can not answer that question. i installed and upgraded sl5.4 from dvd.
being that there have been no replies, either do to no one reading this
thread, or no knowledge of what is installed from livecd, i will make a
suggestion.
because an install from a livecd supposedly installs what is on cd, try
running 'rpm -q -l ndiswrapper' to see if it is installed.
if not, connect to internet and run 'yum install ndiswrapper'.
Perhaps, this CentOS wiki article may help:

Very good and to the point instructions.
For Scientific Linux I'd only change two things.
Step 1 - do
yum install ndiswrapper
Step 4 - do
yum --enablerepo=dag install ndisgtk
Other than that, everything is the same.
