Hello,
The recent update of openssl update of last week needs the newer
libgcrypt that is in Scientific Linux 5.4. Otherwise some programs will
not be able to connect to https sites.
This only affects SL 5.0 - SL 5.3.
To test if this is broken or working for you, try to connect to a https
web site using lftp. Here is an example
lftp https://www.scientificlinux.org/
If this test doesn't work for you, update you libgcrypt, as shown below,
and try again. You do not need to reboot.
If everything goes well, this newer libgcrypt will go into the security
errata for SL 50, 51, 52, and 53, tomorrow.
