Hi Andrew,

I have never seen a Switch User utility in Xfce. Does not
mean it was not there. I have always pressed the little
green running man and then pressed "Log Out", then selected
a different user.

That's what I've been using for quite a while too. But now, my boss (aka wife) 
wants to have her session(she has her own os user) running in parallel with 
mine.
