I said much the same thing a few years ago to a guy who was upset because I said Jesse Jackson wasn't the next MLK. He demanded to know who was our leader if not Jesse, and I made a statement to the effect that we spend too much time looking for the One to guide us, that we need to take charge and forge ahead until the Universe creates/sends/reveals the next "leader". That turned into a nasty argument, as if I'd personally insulted Jesse.
