I believe it is the mythological aspects of "Hancock" that has resonated with 
audiences.  Apparently, it taps into a deep, worldwide residual well of 
consciousness.  I argued ad naseum for the merits of "Hancock" when it came out 
and someone on this list (sorry, name escapes me) was the first one to hip me 
to the Isis/Osiris tip.
