What's the problem here? GL never wore a costume per se.I thought the ring manipulated matter, just converted what he was wearing into the GL "uniform". He never jumped in a phone booth , stripped and then flew off to Oa in another galaxy.
To escape camp status the space scenes must have its CGI on point.
