Hi everybody,

First of all, I would like to thank the people who participated in the selection process. I know the choice wasn't easy and I'm glad to have been selected to participate in the Google Summer of Code.

As Vlad said, I'll work on the matrix completion problem. I first wanted to work on something related to the trees, as I already had the opportunity to study them and to use them for my master's thesis. However, I decided to do some research on the projects proposed in the ideas page and this one called my attention.

I'll blog <http://nicolastr.com/blogs/my-gsoc-2013/>regularly about the project. You can subscribe to the RSS feed if you want to but don't worry, I'll flood you anyway on the mailing list after each post.

I'll also be present for the sprint in Paris. I'm looking forward to see you there.

Have a nice day!

Nicolas

Hey everybody,

Today is the official starting date for GSoC 2013, and I am very excited!

As those of you following could definitely see, we had a lot of very good proposals, sadly, more than we could accept. We managed to get 2 slots from the PSF, and the projects that were
accepted are:

- Online Low Rank Matrix Completion: Nicolas, mentored by Gilles and Mathieu - Biclustering algorithms, scoring, and data generation: Kemal, mentored by Vlad and Gaël.

Nicolas and Kemal, it would be nice if you could tell us a bit about yourself and about your plans. I'm sure everybody is anxious to get to know you better!

Looking forward to a fun and productive summer,
Yours,
Vlad
