I have already played a bit with annotating some 3rd party code[1] and I did not found bugs, but I found some opportunities to make code more readable and/or simple. @Matthew: Regarding 2.6 vs 2.7, I don't believe it changes anything with respect to the effort needed here (2.7 vs 3.x would make a bigger difference, but I know that will take some time).
