Yes, you're right. Those changes will be interesting only for MySQL
users, and - even further - I think they would be useful only to those
using MySQL - or phpMyAdmin - generated files.
Or those (coming from Access world?) liking strange field names with
spaces or other exotic characters in them. I suppose that's why there
are those backticks.
Note that phpMyAdmin can export files without these backticks.
And we cannot do much to avoid this, unless making a full SQL lexer with
context checking...
I don't know if it'll pay the effort, as I'm sure It will need a major
rewrite or a full new implementation of this lexer.
No, SQL is a complex language, more complex than it seems at least...
I don't think it is worth the effort, unless you want to fully
compile/check the validity of code...
Did you use old (official) lexer or the one I rewrote?
I don't know if Neil integrated it finally.
I took cvs code, not sure if it had your changes but I don't see them in
the revision history.
That's the old code.
Neil, is my lexer in purgatory (yet to be commited) or in hell (will
never be integrated, unless some massive changes are done)?
If that's the old code, I can integrate your changes in my version.
I'd be great, thanks.
Done. I give the new version, there is at least another person
interested in my lexer :-)
Minor point, worth being mentionned to those wanting to apply the patch
and use it with SciTE:
In SciTEProps.cxx, propertiesToForward array must have
"sql.backticks.identifier",
added so Scintilla sees this property.
