My focus will be traditional DBCS file.
I have tested Scintilla in XP English, it works well for CJK with the right
codepage.
But it cannot support CJK font display/edit in Win98 English.
Maybe this is Win98 OS limitation.
Windows 98 should work with CJK. When I started Scintilla I needed
to work with Japanese language source code on Windows 95 so that is
supposed to work. However, I don't currently have easy access to
Windows 9x so it doesn't see much testing.
I can confirm: I have some C source code files with comments in Japanese.
On WinXP, if I switch to:
code.page=932
character.set=128
I can see the kanji and kana correctly.
On Win98SE, doing the same change, I see only lines of dots with some
chars inside. No matter which font I use, including MS Gothic which
support (partialy) Japanese char set (hiragana, katakana, CJK Unified
Ideographs).
Idem if I paste some text from www.amazon.jp (seems to be Shift_JIS
encoding, according to Mozilla infos which display the front page
correctly on Win98SE. I am a bit lost with all these encodings...)
