Using SciLexer.dll (ver. 1.70) on my PC with Windows 2000 (ver. 5.00.2195 SP4),
if the Scintilla window loses the focus, then when it gets the focus back, the
entire text immediately becomes selected and the caret goes to position 0,
regardless of whether there was a selection or not - and regardless of where
the caret was - before getting back the focus.

In other words the current selection and caret position are lost if the focus
is set back to Scintilla window.

It's interesting that this behavior doesn't occur at all on my PC with Windows
98 (4.10.2222A); in this case both the selection and the caret stay the same
after switching focus back and forth, which is how i'd like it to be on all OS.

I'm quite sure that this unwanted modification of selection and caret position
isn't caused by the container app.
