Actually i'm 99.99% sure the window containing Scintilla is a dialog, i'll make 
that 100% sure. However i made a simple EZGUI test app which uses a standard 
edit control instead of Scintilla, and on Win2000 the selection doesn't occur; 
it must be noted that on Win2000 i'm seeing the behavior (and on Win98 i'm not 
seeing it) *using my real app*; i didn't make a bare-bones test app with 
Scintilla yet; i'm going to do so and i'll report the results of this test.

Well, they definitely do :) . Furthermore i saw right now that on WinXP the 
selection occurs just like on Win2000. But on Win98 it doesn't at all.

It's also ascertained that the container (neither EZGUI nor my app) doesn't 
explicitly do anything different based on Windows version. IMO it's very likely 
that some role is being played by how the same messages are handled by 
different Windows versions.
